'Azhar questions selectors' move to select Dravid

Azar Smart Move towards Selectors:

Azar raises the question against the Selectors to bring back the Dravid. As he overall performing well. As selector didnt pick it up for a long years.

To bring Rahul Dravid back in the one-day international squad, former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin today said that a youngster should have been preferred instead.

"It would have been better then if instead of Dravid, a young player was given the opportunity to play for the Indian team and has been placed in the team also.

The decision of the Selection Committee on the issue is wrong.

The veteran of 99 Test matches and 334 ODI's threw his weight behind champion batsman Sachin Tendulkar and said there was no question of his retirement as he was playing well.

He said that both VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh impressed him a lot.

Azharuddin were said about the game would benefit,  if it more players are involved in running sport center.

Sachin talks splended over the ODI

ODI can be split into two:

Sachin says that one-day cricket to be split into two innings of 25 overs each to bring more balance into the matches.

The premier Indian batsman, who holds the records for most ODI runs and hundreds, backed the format despite doubts whether it would survive Twenty20's increasing popularity.

"I'm for 50-over cricket," he told Times Now channel on Friday at a bat endorsement function. "I was thinking of probably 25 overs each to start with and again you go and play 25 overs."

Tendulkar recalled the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy final in Sri Lanka where the hosts batted their full innings for two days in a row only for rain to force the match to be abandoned both times. The teams were declared joint winners of the tournament.

"This is also because in certain places, in day-night matches the conditions are completely different when you bat or bowl second.

"So both sides (will) get to bat when the lights are not on. Then both bat when the lights are on, 25 overs," he said. "So it is not so heavily dependent on toss."

In the Indian sub-continent, slow pitches can render chasing a target tough or dew in the night can make fielding difficult in the later stages.

The debate over one-day cricket's future has intensified after the England board last month dropped 50-over cricket

The secreat of sachin mission

He has been a cricketing icon for almost 20 years. But who have been Sachin Tendulkar's idols? Well, the master batsman did let us know in the course of a TV interview a couple of days ago that over the years he made a conscious effort to blend Sunil Gavaskar's defence with Viv Richards' ruthlessness to evolve a batting style of his own.

Tendulkar could not have been more judicious in choosing his heroes. As everyone associated with the game knows perfect batting is an ideal blend of attack and defence. The ability to adapt oneself to a given situation in a match is priceless. There are times when quick runs are paramount, at other times runs and time are of equal importance or perhaps the situation calls for a grim fightback based on a sterling defence. And these days with cricket being played in three formats the need to adapt and change cannot be overemphasized if one wants to be a successful cricketer.

So now we know the secret of Tendulkar's greatness! Ever since his international debut in Pakistan in 1989 at the age of 16 he has been lording over the bowlers, who continue to struggle to breach his near-impregnable defence and often find themselves at the receiving end of his aggressive hitting.

"Sunil Gavaskar and Vivian Richards are the batsmen that really inspired me," he said during the interview. "I wanted to be as solid as Gavaskar and as destructive as Richards, because that combination was always going to be lethal. I felt truly inspired by these two individuals on the field," he said.

So much has been written about Gavaskar's mode of batting which inspired a whole generation in this country. From 1971 to 1987 he displayed the rare combination of total technique, impeccable body balance and scintillating strokes to spectators in Madras and Melbourne, Lahore and Leeds, Colombo and Christchurch.

Over the years, he left a trail of frustrated bowlers who, with a gesture of helplessness, turned to their captain as if to implore, "please take me off. There is no use bowling to this bloke. He's never going to get out." Indeed, so impeccable was his technique, so insatiable was his appetite for runs, so uncanny was his knack at building an innings, brick by brick, that he gave the impression of batting all day and every day. His batting was the epitome of the age old qualities of dedication, determination and concentration.

Where Gavaskar scored over Geoff Boycott another master of technique and defensive batting was that he had so many strokes that he was ruthlessly unsparing on the bad ball. That was the point Tony Lewis made while writing about his 101 at Old Trafford in 1974.

Many knowledgeable critics put it at the top of his 34-century list and Lewis' description illustrates why. "Quite unforgettable was his 101 out of 246 against England in 1974. Cold north-west winds drove in squalls, bringing only the seventh day of rain in Manchester since mid-February. The pitch was firm and bouncy. Willis, Old and Hendrick were hostile, whacking in the short balls. Underwood and Greig were the slower bowlers and they gave nothing away."

Gavaskar first demonstrated how brave he was. He kept his eye on the ball and swayed either side of the high bounce, but when the ball was pitched up, he was immediately forward to drive it straight. This is where Gavaskar was a better player than Boycott overall. Boycott lost his strokes or maybe through parsimony he cut them out. Gavaskar reduced risk too but never lost the spring off the back foot which sent him firmly into the drive."

Richards' batting was a law unto itself. Few batsmen have intimidated bowlers just by their walk to the crease as Richards did. The confident swagger said it all. And then it was not unusual for him to whip his first ball through mid wicket to the boundary even when it was pitched precisely where the bowler had intended. The level of his confidence was unparalleled and he had footwork with which the great natural batsmen are born and the power of lightning and bewildering reflexes. When he was in prime form the best bowlers were as helpless against him as all the rest.

At a time when the fast bowler's stock ball whizzed past the batsman's nostrils Richards was the last hold out who shunned the helmet – even on his last tour of England when he was in his 40th year. The maroon cap was a reminder that no bowler however fast would threaten his domination. Richards was never content with mere survival. Bowlers had to be subjugated, to recognize that he was the master of all that he survived on a cricket field. With all the emphasis on attacking skills Richards was capable of technical excellence.

As Vic Marks wrote in his tribute to Richards when he was chosen among Wisden's five cricketers of the century, "his forward defensive stoke which he sometimes played with exaggerated, ironic care, just to inform the bowler that he could have smashed a boundary but had chosen not to, could be as impenetrable as Boycott's. But he didn't use it that often. More frequently, he ignored the coaching manuals and relying on the keenest pair of eyes and phenomenal reflexes just trusted his instincts."

Richards could destroy the bowling both clinically and ferociously. It is no surprise that the fastest Test century of all time - off just 56 balls - stands against his name. On that memorable day at St Johns's sixes were hit in every direction. He was known to launch a fearsome assault upon any bowler who enjoyed an international reputation. The higher the stage the better he performed.

Gambir missing his pening partne:

Cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Friday said that swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag, who is sidelined due to injury, will be desperately missed by the team during the tour of Sri Lanka as well as the Champions Trophy.

"Any team will miss Sehwag (Virender Sehwag) because he was in such a form, that would have been a great advantage for any team," Gambhir said.

Gambhir said this on the sidelines of ceremony held in Chennai, where he was appointed the brand ambassador of MRF.

India has announced the squad for the Sri Lanka tri-series followed by the Champions Trophy, in which they have recalled Rahul Dravid and left out Sehwag due to his shoulder surgery.

Gambhir further sad that international cricket was all about handling pressure, and you have to continuously deliver for the team.

"When you are playing international cricket it's all about the pressure. You should know how to handle it and you should be able take that responsibility, which is very important and the responsibility only comes when the team starts expecting that you can deliver," he said.

The series in Sri Lanka, which also involves New Zealand, will be held from September 8 to 14.

Dravid makes an add value to our team

Dravid ensures that he will be rite back to team, as he said he comes back with the strong fight with this bat.

Sachin feels that Rahul inclusion in the team after close of two years has added to the one day team for tri series and champion trophy also. His experiencewould help us the team. The team is fitter and hunger after a 4 days of camp at bangalore and lot of prepartion fot the upcoming series. The camp was ended with a positive notation and all players were fit after a training.

It will be a challenge for some of the strokeplayers in our team.  As boundries can be difficult to come by, there would be coming lots of involvement in the wicket involved. All the 3 countries were participating its is diffcult to pick it up...............

The left-arm spinner, who last played a One-day in February in the Sri Lanka series this year, was dropped for next month's tri-series and ICC Champions Trophy as the selectors for leg-spinner Amit Mishra. Warne urges abolition of 50 overs internationals

Fromer Austraila leg spinner Warne called for on monday about to talk an abolishen on the 50 over matches against twenty20 cricket.

The 50 over match would be a three and half hour game were by twenty20 will over by only 3 hours. For 50 overs game one session will over by 3 and half hours and totally 7 hours will be taken. so loss of time, but now its like a test cricket as of 50 over match. And much quicker game is T20 game which results in aggresive batting and many players were seen to be playing well. So totally credits were goes to Modi who came with an starts on IPL matches.

"This is a big call but cricket evolves and the 50-over game is past its sell-by date," Warne wrote in his column in The Times. "From now on we should be playing tests and Twenty20 internationals with a Twenty20 World Cup every two years."

Irfan made a duck, Bcz Girl dashes him with a kiss

A young female fan stunned everyone at a function Monday as she tried to publicly hug and kiss Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, but the pacer used his reflexes to block her advances at the last moment.

The incident took place at a city hotel, and Irfan could only manage an embarrassing smile as he thwarted 24-year-old Kolkata girl Sabina Khatun's advances. She had literally lunged at him were on to the stage, where the pacer's elder brother Yusuf Pathan was also present.

Khatun, who works for a company, was one of the recipients of prizes for a promotional contest held by Tata Indicom and tried her desperate act while waiting for a photo op with the Pathan brothers after receiving the prize.

The girl, a resident of Park Circus in the southern part of the city, later said she could not hold herself on standing next to Irfan.

"I am a big fan of Irfan. I wanted to touch him. And I have touched him. I am very happy," a smiling Sabina later told mediapersons, who scrambled for a byte from the girl.

Asked what she was mumbling to Pathan on the stage, she replied: "I was telling him that I wanted to hug and kiss him".

"But he was saying 'No no, please don't do it. Shivangi gala kat legi (Shivangi will kill me)".

Shivangi Dev is Irfan's fiancee.

However, Sabina vehemently denied that what she did was pre-planned. "It all happened at that moment. I did not make any plans beforehand".

However, a couple of scribes who were seated a row in front of the girl before she went to the stage, said they heard her telling an accompanying boy to click her photo the moment she did "the act". "At that time we did not realise what she was up to," the journalists said.

Irfan later told the organisers that he was on his guard after the girl propositioned the kiss.

"I kept a watch on her. The moment I saw her move, I reacted and blocked her."

In the end, it was also the difference between the heights of the tall cricketer and the girl that saved the blushes for Irfan.

The incident is reminiscent of present Indian captain M.S. Dhoni being hugged and kissed publicly by a frenzied female fan at the Eden Gardens two years back.

Dhoni, who was then yet to take over as the team skipper, was in the city for a conditioning camp ahead of the Indian cricketers' tour to Bangladesh when Haseena Nasreeb Shiuli of Berhampore in Murshidabad district grabbed him after breaking the security cordon.

Shiuli, a die-hard Dhoni fan, kissed him as he came down from the team bus to give an autograph

KKR coach wiil be announced soon

Great news to KKR:

Here the great news about the KKR team in IPL were likely going to play on next year april 10th. They were searching for a long period who is likely to be the coach. As a Shah discussion with the Ganguly.

West Indies captain Chris Gayle is expected to feature in the three practice matches from October 3 to 5 but all depends on his availability.  Former India captain  Ganguly who is all set to return as KKR captain in IPL III.

In their coach hunt held at Shah Rukh's residence in Mumbai, the team think tank including Ganguly has also interviewed the likes of Lalchand Rajput, WV Raman, Ashok Malhotra, Sandeep Patil and Praveen Amre among others

TENDULKAR CHASING OVER RUNS

TENDULKAR NOW ITS 36 YEARS OLD:

Now Master Batsman Tendulkar at the age of 36 he scored 12773 runs now till 2011 he is going to play a classic cricket, yet two more years pen for his bat. After that oly he wil decided about the retairment also as he said earlier. Dalmiya on to a front foot

Why Ganguly claims to Dalmiya?

Here the hot news about ganguly raises his question to damiya, As dalmiya replied in the television interview that past captain asked some questions to dalmiya but he couldin answer for it! why is it so happen?

Ganguly asked some tricky questions at the AGM to which Dalmiya didnt seem to have satisfactory answers. But in a television interview today, Dalmiya said, he didnt reply as his and etiquette told him to offer a dead bat. He said that he found some of the questions irrelevant.

Ganguly questioned Bengal Ranji team coach Utpal Chatterjees ouster despite guiding the side from Plate to Elite Group last season. Why are the local coaches not getting preference, he had argued.

He could have said that the CAB, as also the BCCI, has been following this tradition for close to 10 years now. John Wright was the first foreign coach of the Indian team and the tradition has been continuing since. After Wright, Greg Chappell came. And now Gary Kirsten is in charge. Its a case of appointing the best for the team. The CAB too has been following this since 2001. WV Raman, Karsan Gahvri, Paras Mhambrey, Bharathi Arun its a long list. This year we have appointed Roger Binny, a move that received support from the cricketers and the media. He, who had raised the question, was part of the process when Wright was appointed and strongly backed Chappell as Wrights successor, Dalmiya told a Bengali news channel. Between the lines, without naming him, the CAB president has accused the former Indian captain of double standards.

Dalmiya compared his stint in cricket administration with a sedate Test match innings and indirectly took a dig at his opposition saying: They seemed to be more interested in playing Twenty20 cricket.

LEE BECOME PERFECT WITHININ COUPLE OF DAYS

Lee comes with his ball:

Here the fast bowler Lee has injury so he cant play for the last Three test, Now Pointing said that lee will be bowl in the coming up fourth test match,

Pointing said that our side will have a full power in the fourth test match, All players were in good touch and will bat well and pick the wickets as a fire. The great bowler fire Lee has been up over come for the fourth test match

The way things are coming along i didnt expect him to be able to bowl 100 percent over the next couple of days. He's done a lot of bowling this week, he's been ultra keen. Every opportunity we've had, a rain break or when he's not 12th man, he's been in the indoor nets or out in the middle for a bowl.

He's building up his pace over the last couple of days, but we're going to need to see him go pretty hard over the next couple of days to make himself a good chance of selection," he added.

Several players are involving in fourth test such as Johnson and Hussey had returned to form while others such as century maker Michael Clarke and big second innings scorer Marcus North had played wonderfully.

pointing become "BITTERSWEET" review his past record

POINTING FEEL BITTERSWEET:

Ponting, on 17, needed eight more runs to overtake Border's Test run record of 11, 174. He achieved that with ease. But he was caught behind trying to hook and claimed he was unhappy with himself for exposing austrila  middle-order to England's reverse swing barrage.

He was trying to do the best I can to win games for the team and today and I felt likely I let a few of us down.

Michael Clarke and I had a reasonable partnership going and then I got out and exposed some of our other batters to some good quality bowling. It's a strange sort of feeling right at the moment.

He has been aware of the looming record for several weeks but insisted the milestone would not mean much until he finished his career. When he was viewing up the past records it was an golden moment for him and work lot for his own.

POINTING BECAME HIGHEST RUN SCORER CROSSES ALLEN

Hi here is the great news Austrila captian truns to highest run scorer for his team crosses Allen border 11,174 runs crossed at 23rd runs scored by ricky and after he can contribute oly 13 runs added to his total and he given a wicket to wicket keeper and wicket taken by Onions.

Ricky at Third Position:

Our famous batsman was the first leading run scorer Sachin followed by Lara and the third position was touched enough after crossing Allen border's.

Former captain Border also praised Ponting.

"Clearly, I am a great admirer, having been involved in Ricky's selection in many great Australian sides, and having enjoyed watching him closely on more occasions than I can remember as a cricket media commentator as well," Border said.

Team india too decide?

Indian coach Gary Kirsten:

Team India has to decide its priorities in terms of Test cricket and other forms of the game, like T20. "It's quite interesting that we've got a Twenty20 World Cup in April next year in the West Indies and Team India don't play one T20 game until that tournament starts. What should be happening is that we should be going on tour and playing six T20 games and one or two 50 over games. I think that's going to happen - it's just a matter of time. Team India plays six Tests this year. Is that sufficient or are there other priorities? I don't know

Apprisal from Wasim

WASIM says to Bowlers dont be lazy:

I think bowlers nowadays are being pure lazy and are happy with whatever they are being given on a platter. They don't want to be called greats, they are happy just being international cricketers. The use of technology is good but it shouldn't stop the bowler from using his own mind. I remember Waqar and I used to hit the nets and try out various deliveries. We used to exchange our ball if one had been successful in getting reverse swing and then try again. We used to bowl with the wind, then switch to bowling against the wind. Bowlers nowadays don't want to experiment and work hard. Over the past few years, I have only seen Zaheer Khan do the hard work. He put in a lot of work at Worcester and learn some tricks. He's the only guy in the Indian team who can move the ball in and out.

India losses in his T20 against NZ

Manoj Tiwary was brilliant knock with vain at last they lose the match against Nz. After winning the toss India were bat up, as top order batsman fail to run the score, India went eith 154 for 5. Clark aiming to recall for his team:

Aussie:

The aussie fast bowler may be recall for the third test against England.Clarke had an comment on his bowl"some times hero can take a wicket or bunch of wickets" Clark, 33, the hero of the 2006-07 Ashes in aussie with 26 wickets at an average of just 17 apiece, admitted he was disappointed and surprised to be left out of the first two Tests.

Not having played Test cricket from November because of an elbow operation he cant able to play in his side, the selectors went with the young pacemen who won aussie the series in South Africa - Johnson, Siddle , Hilfenhaus.

Now Johnson has an difficult tour and struggled again yesterday. His Test place must now be on the line after his seven-over spell conceded 42 runs, it was a bad day again for aussie

SACHIN GET APRASIAL FROM "CHANDRU SIR"

The former Indian player and captian Chandu Borde on his 75th birthday here saw batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar reminiscing his 1989 debut tour of Pakistan where Borde, as the coach, introduced him to the cricketing world.

"Chandu Sir guided me through the difficulties from 16 year old was expected to undergo on his first appearance on a abroad tour. captian told me how to improve upon mistakes without disturbing my natural game technique and instincts, Tendulkar was saying this last night, in an overwhelming expression of gratitude to Borde, who served Indian cricket in various capacities.

Tendulkar recalled Borde''s contribution to his shaping as a cricketer on the debut tour and said the gentle way in which the former all-rounder gave him useful tips in the nets boosted his confidence.

"What Chandu Sir did for me then came from his passion for the game. He never expected any public acknowledgment of what he did for me or wished for anything in return," said international cricket''s most prolific scorer.

The master blaster further went on to recount the more recent stint of Borde, one of the most valuable all-rounders of the Indian Test squad from 1958 to 1970, as an administrator when he accompanied the Indian team as manager for the 2007 tour of England.

Austrila went to a tough situation

Pointing played a good role against founder game of England. Even though England manage their team to end up the 1st test with an draw situation. England had nicely passed away the time on the fifth day, When one side wickets were started falling down, the skipper helps to manage the team to a drawn state. When pointing had rotating the bowler on another side England skipper had manage, he was stable with his bat. At last james anderson and panesar were last standing batsman was 11.3 overs from unbeatean wicket stand and draw in the first test ashes series. England's moral victory in the first Ashes Test series was to be praised by many when Australian experts.

Aussies Tighten screws

After austrila makes 479-5 pointing decide to declare and call up the batsman who were screwing up the england bowlers. As before that pointing out for 150 runs wicket was taken by panesar and got bowled. Later Katich was gone out fot 125 runs itself. After pansear took pointing the england bowlers were happy, after a good knock from him. M.hussey gone for 3 and M.clarke gone for 83 and north and haddin had a good knock against england bowlers both were made 125 and 121 runs score was stablize after hitting up 3 centuries by 3 batsman. Later England comes to bat they lose 2 wickets for scoring up 20 runs........... The day end with the superb for the team Aussiee

murli gets injured again missed sexond Test...!

Hi friends, The first Test was over by last week, still murli didnt recover from the knee injury and missing on second test starting on by this sunday. The 37 yrs old man still shining in his bowling, gets injured on patella tendon and for the third test also he cant come up........

By the way sri lanka was in the lead of 1-0 against pakistan test 3 series. Now how sangagara going to manage with the bowlers, now the pressure goes upto mendis this time he should play a role for his team. Even srilanka have many spinner option but it credits goes to mendis and this time he should shine over ahead. Both the teams are listed below:

Sri Lanka squad: Kumar Sangakkara (captain), Malinda Warnara, Tharanga Paranavitana, Mahela Jayawardene, Thilan Samaraweera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Angelo Mathews, Chamara Kapugedera, Rangana Herath, Ajantha Mendis, Thilan Thushara, Nuwan Kulasekara, Dhammika Prasad, Kaushal Silva, Suranga Lakmal.

and probably for pakistan team

Pakistan squad: Younis Khan (captain), Salman Butt, Khurram Manzoor, Mohammad Yousuf, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Aamer, Danish Kaneria, Abdul Razzaq, Abdur Rauf, Fawad Alam, Faisal Iqbal.

Dravid added his name in 30 squad but in 15?

Indian team selector selected for the championship trophy and Dravid was included in 30 members selection list. Cricket fans were amused at seeing his name in the list of probables for the Champions Trophy. The selector were now found in him something they didn't know, likely of unlikely, or they have found something in the others that they didn't want to see. More likely. It might be the short pitched ball, it might be temperament, it might be discipline, Dravid scores in the selectors mind.

Now the tough position to be in squad in 15 members list. As of now if tendulkar and shewag were comes in gambir moves to 1st down and Rohit sharma and suresh raina as on........
At last "THE GREAT WALL WILL BE BACK OR NOT"

Australia batsman snached the England bowlers

England has finished their first innings with a huge total on board as 435 all out. As Australia players replied 249-1 as the second day open pointing and katich scored unbeaten centuries for the partnerships 189. Pointing after scores his century his scores level up to 11,000 runs in test careers. he scrambled to reach his century with the single. katich was in bat with the 8th century. and still partnership continues. They were nearly at the grease 4 1/2 hours during the play, England captain Andrew Strauss rotated his bowlers, and adjusted his fields for a long time but it was an failure and bowlers cant pick up those wickets.

Indian cricketer History

Yuvraj singh:

Yuvraj singh born on 12 Dec 1981, He is a good cricketer for a Indian team and the son of former Indian cricket bowler Yograj singh. Yuvraj singh born on Chandigarh. he made his one day international debut against Kenya at the ICC knock out trophy, and test debut against new zealand. He did not get to bat in his first one day, but showed his real character in his second game which was against Austria where he scored a Runs 84 off 82 balls. He played bowlers like LEE, McGRATH etc..

Yuvraj is a great batsman, he started his with the left hand batsman and a part time spinner, while batting he was danger with the pace bowling but his aggressive style of batting is often a cause of his demise against spin bowling. He is seen as part of the new brigade of young cricketers who can form the nucleus of the Indian team in the future. He is also a great asset in the field. But his successes were only limited against fast bowling, he has rarely been successful against the slow bowlers.

Yuvraj singh was debut by the good coach by john wright.

Family denies Dhoni's Bollywood link-ups

Dhoni turns to 28, and celebrate with his family membersand dismissed his reported link-ups with film actresses but made it clear that they would have no problems if the charismatic Indian cricket captain, who turned 28 yesterday, decides to tie the knot with the girl of his choice.

Reacting to reports linking Dhoni to Bollywood star Deepika Padukone and south Indian actress Laxmi Rai, Dhoni's brother Narendra said that those were just media speculation. "These are all media speculation. Mahi is very close to us and he shares everything with us. If he decides to marry someone, he will tell us before anybody else," he said.

Narendra said his family is not looking for girls and the cricketer was free to chose his life partner. "We are not looking for a bride for Mahi. He is free to choose his life partner. We have left this decision on him. We will welcome his choice," he said.

"We don't mind if he prefers love marriage," he added. In fact, Narendra said, there was no hurry to get Dhoni married and cricket topped his agenda at the moment. "We are not at all in hurry. His priority is his career and he is just 28. Marriage can wait for a couple of years." Narendra said.

Rather, the family would love to see him guiding India's to 2011 World Cup triumph, he said. We all wish that he plays many more years and Team India World Cup under his captaincy.

He said the family misses Dhoni when he is on tours but is happy that he has remained polite despite his overwhelming success. "We miss him when he is not around but we all know that he is very busy and has responsibilities. We are proud of him."

Mahi has worked very hard to be there. Today he is an icon but did not changed at all. Our parents taught us to be grounded and he never forgets this. He is the same old Mahi for us.

DHONI TRUNS TO 28....

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has turned 28 today. Dhoni has been the motivator for Team India and under his able leadership the team has scaled heights. The 'captain cool' is the man of fewer emotions but doesn't hesitate to admit mistakes. Hailing from Ranchi in Jharkhand, the destructive batsman always looks to innovate and remains calm under pressure. The born leader, Dhoni, is the youth icon and has earned accolades from many in his short stint as a captain. Wish MS Dhoni on his 28th birthday to bring more glories to the country.

"THE WALL" DRAVID IS BACK

India go back to Dravid

Included in the list of probables for the Champions Trophy in South Africa, former India skipper Rahul Dravid's return to the one-day fold on Monday has not only given a new lease to his career but may also have marked the end of the apparent youth policy started soon after the World Cup debacle in 2007.

Dravid was included as one of the 30 probables for the tournament to be held in South Africa in September, and the decision now makes him a certainty in the final list of 15 as sources in the selection committee said they were hoping he would provide solidity to the batting line-up in the middle.

Dravid last played a one-day international against Australia at Nagpur in October, 2007, before being left out by the selectors in a move that was said to have new skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's approval. But now, the selectors said, his comeback was aimed at rehabilitating Dhoni by allowing the captain to play his strokes freely, rather than bearing the burden of holding the innings together.

"Dhoni has been performing in the last two years and guide the youngsters around him that has forced him to curb his natural attacking instincts. Hopefully, this will change things," a selector, who did not wish to be named, told The Indian Express.

Dhoni had admitted he was facing a problem of choosing between batting aggressively and anchoring the innings. "I don't know if I'll get back to my old self. Maybe I will, maybe I won't, it depends on the situation. But the more important thing is who will play the role that I am playing at present. I don't want any of the youngsters to change their style, I will rather take up the responsibility myself," Dhoni had said during the IPL.

Short story

The move has also been sparked by India's early elimination in the World T20 championship, and then their big defeat in the second ODI in Kingston against West Indies since, in both cases, the batsmen had been found wanting against short-pitched bowling.

Dravid's return, the selectors said, also had to do with conditions in South Africa in late September, when the wickets will be fresh and a lot more conducive to fast bowling. The 36-year-old Dravid, meanwhile, is expected to return to active cricket after the IPL next week, leading India Cements in the Senior Division League in Chennai. Dravid will also be leading the side in the inaugural BCCI corporate tournament in the first week of September.

Age no bar

This decision, along with the inclusion of the 30-year old Ashish Nehra for the West Indies tour last month, is being seen as a message from the selectors that the tacit policy of preferring younger players for Team India slots may be finally over, with Tendulkar, Dravid, Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan and Nehra in the fray.

Even as Dravid's return hogged the limelight, Irfan Pathan was left out of the probables. Irfan was also dropped for the West Indies tour after the World T20 championships. The selectors picked seamers Pankaj Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Dhawal Kulkarni ahead of the left-armer.

Kevin petersen became a good cricketer

A majority of the players contracted to Cricket Australia have described England's Kevin Pietersen as the best batsman in the world outside Australia. Pietersen, with 50 per cent of the vote, was by far the most popular choice, reports The Age. Sachin Tendulkar, Graeme Smith, Jacques Kallis and Kumar Sangakkara are no where close to him. Apparently, the Australians fear Pietersen the most when it comes to an Ashes series. Batsmen want to be him, envying his audaciousness, and bowlers want to be a long way away from him. Pietersen has made 963 runs at 53.50 against Australia, but it is the 29-year-old's attitude that attracts just as much admiration as his record. His arrogrance has made him a divisive and abrasive character in dressing rooms, condemning him to a short and turbulent reign as England captain, but it has also made him a champion.

India grap the series after rain wash out at 4th ODI end with 2-1

India won the one-day series against West Indies 2-1 after Sunday's fourth and final match was abandoned due to heavy rain.

After West Indies were put into bat, skipper Chris Gayle went from the second ball of the day caught behind off Ishant Sharma for a duck.

Against some good Indian bowling, the home side reached 27 for one in the eighth over when play was stopped by a downpour.

Although the rainfall later ceased, there was too much water in the outfield for play to resume and after over two hours of waiting the game was abandoned.

INDIA WENT FOR AN HUNT TO GRAP THE SERIES 2-1

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni played another responsible knock of 46 not out as India took an unbeatable 2-1 lead in the series, winning the third One-Day International by six wickets according to the Duckworth-Lewis (DL) Method with just one ball to spare in a rain-marred game on Friday. India capitalised on a good start by openers Dinesh Karthik (47) and Gautam Gambhir (44) and Man of the Match Dhoni played a composed innings off 34 balls as the visitors achieved the rain revised target of 159 in 22 overs at the Beausejour Stadium.

HISTORY OF ROBIN UTHAPPA

Robin Venu Uthappa: He is born 11 November 1985 at kodugu, karnataka is an India batsman. His father is Venu Uthappa, an international hockey referee from , and mother Roselyn is a home maker and hails . He made his ODI debut in the seventh and final match to the England tour to India in April 2006. He had a successful debut, making 86 as an opening batsman before out . It was the highest score for any Indian debutant in a limited overs match. He is also named 'The Walking Assassin"

Uthappa first came to the public's attention when he made 66 for India B against India A in the Challenger Trophy in 2005. The following year, in the same tournament, Uthappa made matchwinning 93-ball 100 against the same team which propelled him in the big league. Previously, he had been a member of the India under-19 team that won the Asia Cup. Once a wicketkeeper-batsman, his batting average of near 40 with a strike rate of approximately 90 has made him regarded as something of a limited overs cricket specialist.

He was recalled to the ODI side in January 2007 for the series against the West Indies where he smashed a 70 from just 41 balls.

He was selected in the 15-member squad of the Indian Cricket team for the 2007 WCB held in the West Indies in March-April 2007. He played in all 3 group games, but only scored 30 runs in total as India suffered a shock defeat to Bangladesh and a loss to Sri Lanka resulting in the team not qualifying for the Super 8 stage.

In the sixth ODI to the England 2007-2008, he scored a sensational 47 of 33 balls to take India to a thrilling victory, keeping Indian hopes alive in the 7 match series that they were trailing 2-3 before the match. Used to batting as an opener, in this match he came in at the unfamiliar position of no 7. When he came at the crease India were 5 down for 234 after 40.2 overs, still needing 83 from less than 10 overs. After Dhoni got out in the 47th over with the Indian score at 294, Uthappa kept a cool head to take India to the target with two balls to spare in a remarkable victory.

Uthappa also scored a crucial 50 against Pakistan in the 20-20 World Cup in South Africa, when India were tottering at 36/4. With this, he became the first Indian to score a 50 in a 20-20 International match. India subsequently won the match in bowl out 3-0, where he bowled one of the three deliveries that hit the stumps.

Uthappa has played at all junior levels and first class for Karnataka Cricket State Association.

He played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2008 and had a fairly successful opening season. He swapped places with Zaheer Khan and completed a move to the RCB

Indian cricket beginning:

Cricket, the gentleman’s game, is the unofficial national game of India. Though seems to be embedded in the life of country, it did not originate in India.

The origin of this game can be traced back to a place named Weald, near London. Initially played by the children of the farmers of the region, today it is the most popular sport after Soccer.

There are many beliefs regarding the etymology of the word. Some people believe it to be originated from a French word ‘Crequet’, meaning a Club while others think it to be derived from an English word ‘Crycc’. The game took around 4 centuries to reach India. British brought this game to India in the 17th century.

The records show that the first ever cricket match in India was played in 1721 AD. Initially accepted by the Parsi community, this game of foreigners began to appear in organized form with the establishment of the ‘Oriental Cricket Club’ in 1848.

This cricket club of Mumbai marked the beginning of interest of Indian people in cricket. The first official cricket match was played between Parsis and Europeans in 1877 AD. Till late 19th century people of this country did not open their hearts to the game.

The popularity of the game started building up among the Indian people when some of the Indians such as Sir Ranjitisinhji and Sir Duleepsinhji started playing cricket for English cricket team in 1900s. Their cricket score helped to raise the interest and prestige of the game among Indians

NZ 351-4 at stumps day 1, 2nd test

Ross Taylor scored his third test century and Jesse Ryder his second in a record 271-run fourth-wicket partnership which lifted New Zealand out of trouble and to 351 for four at stumps on the first day of the second cricket against India.

Taylor and Ryder were thrown together in only the 11th over Thursday, with New Zealand's innings in collapse at 23 for three. They pursued their partnership for the next 58.2 overs to lift the home side to 294-4 before Taylor was out for 151.

The partnership was the highest by a New Zealand pair for all wickets against India, beating 231, and the highest for New Zealand's fourth wicket against all nations, beating the previous mark of 241.

Ryder was unbeaten on 137 at stumps, having batted more than seven hours for his second century in consecutive tests after his 102 at Hamilton, where India won by 10 wickets.

Taylor's century was his first in five tests, since his 115 against Australia at Brisbane in November, and came within 18 runs of his highest score of 169, made against England at Old Trafford 10 months ago.

Taylor struggled to curb his aggressive nature and offered chances throughout his innings before finally lofting an attempted sweep to Yuvraj Singh on the square leg boundary off Harbhajan Singh in the final session.

Ryder, in contrast, played a composed and technically expert innings, limiting his scoring shots to precise and predetermined areas and offering few opportunities to the fielding side.

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was ruled out of the match Thursday with a back injury, handing the captaincy to Virender Sehwag who led India for only the second time in a test.

Sehwag said he was not surprised by New Zealand's revival.

"We knew it was a good track (even) at 23 for three, and that someone will get a hundred here," Sehwag said.

Taylor's innings of 262 minutes and 204 balls was still the foundation of New Zealand's strong position at stumps on day one. He had come to the crease when New Zealand was in the throes of its early collapse and was the first batsman to offer resistance to India's attack.

"I think I was a bit more nervous than normal," Taylor said. "I haven't had a score for a while in the test arena so I was happy to get one today.

"I put a lot of pressure on myself with goals and high standards and the way I've played over the last few months hasn't lived up to those standards. This wasn't the best hundred I've got but it was good to get there."

Taylor praised Ryder's contribution.

"A lot credit has to go to Jesse," he said. "I think he played outstandingly well and to still be there, after over six hours, he's been great.

"He played a big part in my innings today. He kept me going and I have to thank him."

Ryder and Taylor batted for more than two full sessions to change the course of the opening day and to answer captain Daniel Vettori's call on batsmen to occupy the crease for long periods.

It was a message lost on New Zealand's top order as Tim McIntosh was out, unluckily, for 12, Jamie How for 1 and Martin Guptill for 8.
